Garage Organizers & Storage Systems

The right organizers and storage accessories are essential for maintaining an organized garage.  Use our garage organization systems list to help you choose the best storage for your garage.

Standalone Storage and Organizers - Going this route is best for those who don’t have a lot of items and only need storage for the specifics, like golf clubs and accessories and a few household tools.  Wall-mounted cabinets with individual compartments for nails are ideal for those with limited garage space.

Garage Shelving - Freestanding metal or wooden shelving works well with a bin and basket system, and can be easily rearranged according to your needs.  Wall-mounted shelving is great for maximizing wall and floor space.  Choose wire shelving over wood so you can see the shelf contents and to allow for air circulation to prevent mold and mildew.  Install a ceiling-mounted shelf to store seasonal items.

Garage Wall Systems - Wall systems give you a great amount of storage options because of the variety of specialty baskets and hooks to contain specific items.  Here are the two different types of systems:

  1. Wire grid systems are available in wall-to-wall configurations, or the individual grids can be purchased separately depending on your needs.  Specialized wire baskets and hooks hold everything from garden tools to sports equipment.  The upside to a wire grid is you can take it with you if you move.
  2. A slatted system is another option for maximizing the walls in your garage.  These panels screw directly into the wall and fit together with a tongue-and-groove design.  Baskets, hooks and racks are available to meet virtually any storage need; you can even incorporate closed-door cabinetry that’s mounted off the ground.

Garage Storage Cabinets - Closed-door cabinetry systems are the ultimate in garage organization.  They give your garage a clean, professional look and offer the benefit of lockable storage.  Freestanding units can be outfitted with wheels for easy mobility.  They are available in a variety of durable materials from melamine laminate to anodized aluminum.  You can also combine peg boards and grid or slatted wall systems to take advantage of any bare wall space.
