In anticipation of higher winter energy prices, now is the time to weatherproof your home.
“You can insulate your home from rising prices by using less energy,” says Andrea Stass of Union Gas. “An energy efficient home is easier on the pocketbook and more comfortable.”
Some suggestions:
- Repair caulking and worn weatherstripping.
- Ensure return air grills, registers and radiators are clean of furniture, rugs and drapes.
- Change or clean your furnace filter every couple of months during the heating season.
- Use a programmable thermostat and set the temperate to 18C for 16 hours a day.
- Install a low-flow shower head.
These easy, affordable tips can reduce natural gas bills b y up to $175 annually. Specific savings vary on the size, condition and age of your home.
